PESHAWAR, November 22, 2024 – Two new cases of polio have been reported in Pakistan, bringing the total number of polio-infected children this year to 52.
The latest victims are a one-and-a-half-year-old boy and a three-year-old girl, both from the Daraz Nanda tehsil in Dera Ismail Khan.
These new cases highlight the ongoing challenge of eradicating the virus in the country, despite continued vaccination efforts.

As of now, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has reported 13 polio cases, Balochistan has 24, Sindh has 13, and both Punjab and Islamabad have each recorded one case this year.
Health authorities are emphasizing the need for more robust vaccination campaigns and greater community involvement to prevent further spread of the disease and protect vulnerable children from the debilitating virus.
