Taliban endorse China’s one belt, one road project

ISLAMABAD: Taliban have endorsed China’s one belt , one road project and termed China as a gateway for Afghanistan for access to world trade markets.

Taliban spokesman, Zubi ullah Mujahid on Thursday said in a statement that Chinese investment will work as a base for development of Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, United Kingdom (UK) foreign secretary, Dominic Raab , has arrived Islamabad on a 2-day visit to discuss the future Afghan government , its governance style and bilateral issues between UK and Pakistan.

UK foreign Secretary had flown from Doha Qatar to Islamabad . On arrival, the senior officials of Foreign ministry and officials of British High Commission recieved UK Foreign secretary.

Dominic Raab with have detailed discussion with Foreign minister, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, during his stay in Islamabad. Both leaders may have a joint press briefing on conclusion of the visit of UK foreign secretary.

Dominic Raab is also likely to meet prime minister, Imran Khan and army chief, Qamar Javed Bajwa , during his stay in Islamabad.
Foreign Office spokesman, Asim Iftukhar, confirmed arrival of UK foreign secretary to Pakistan. In his statement released to media here on Thursday. The Foreign Office spokesman said the visiting Foreign secretary will have talks with Pakistani leadership on Afghan situation, besides discussing bilateral issues between Pakistan and UK.

Pakistan side will also raise the issue of keeping Pakistan in the red list by UK government during talks with Dominic Raab.

UK and Pakistan have identical views on Afghan issue and both countries are trying to have a durable and stable government in Afghanistan.

Pakistan is also using its good offices to persuade Taliban to have an inclusive government in Afghanistan.

UK is following a wait and see approach towards acceptance of Taliban government in Afghanistan Pakistan is urging world community to accept Afghan government and give it financial support lest it fails.
