GUJRANWALA: A van cylinder blast killed 9 passengers here on Sunday evening, besides seriously injuring 5 other.
The ill-fatted passenger van was on its route to Gujranwala and when it reached Rahowali, a town some 6 km from its destination (Gujranwala) a gas cylinder fitted in it went off with a huge bang.
As a result 9 passengers died at the spot and 5 other got injured seriously.
The dead bodies and injured were shifted to district hospital Gujranwala.
Gas cylinders are fitted in passenger vans to operate them on compressed natural gas (CNG) fuel.
CNG kits blast off and on. No department including explosive department checks the quality of the fitted gas cylinders . There have been hundreds of gas cylunder blasts so far that kilked thousqnds of innocent passengers, but it seemed human life is not precious for any concerned departments.
Unfortunately, no one even investigates the cause of such van blasts and likewise victims families are never compensated.
The level of criminal negligence can be guaged from only one factor that passengers vans and even buses can be seen having multiple gas cylinders fitted inside the vans and even on top roof of the buses.
These gas cylinders in passenger vans and buses are real bombs for the passengers who pay to risk their lives in ignorance.
