ISLAMABAD ,: Nov 25,2022: Faisal Vawda , an estranged Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) leader , on Friday accepted his mistake in dual nationality case and this was followed by end to his lifetime disqualification by the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP).
Setting aside lifetime disqualification SCP bench ruled that PTI leader may be eligible for contesting any election in the future.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had disqualified Faisal Vawda in double national case. The PTI leader had appealed to the top court against lifetime disqualification.
Other day , the SCP had asked Faisal Vawda to either accept his fault for hissing his double nationality while contesting the election of the Senate or face action under article 62 A of the constitution.
Faisal Vowda who is not in good relations with his party top leadership appeard before the top court on Friday. On the outset of the hearing , Faisal Vovda tendered his unconditional apology for submitting wrong information for the Senate election. He also tendered his resignation as Senator on the occasion.
The SCP accepted unconditional apology of the PTI leader and set a side his lifetime disqualification.
Talking to the media out side the SCP , Faisal Vowda thanked the court to accept his apology. He said the court appreciated his behaviour and revoked his lifetime disqualification.
Faisal Vovda clarified he was not joining any new political party.
A day earlier, Faisal Vowda had termed Imran Khan as his political father and expressed serious concern over assiasination attempt on PTI chief’s life.
