“You are making money in flood crisis”, MPA in Sindh resigns in protest over Govt apathy towards affectees

KARACHI/ LARKANA: September 7, 2022.: Moazam Ali Khan Abbasi, who was elected as member Sindh assembly from Larkana PS-11 in the last general elections held in 2018 by defeating a Pakistan People Party (PPP) opponent in Larkana, hometown of PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto, has resigned in protest over Sindh government’s miserably poor response for relief to the flood- hit people of the province.

Moazam Ali Abbasi in his resignation addressed to the speaker Sindh assembly said “ In the wake of national calamity in Sindh it was evident that the government administration under current ruling people party has miserably failed to deliver to the people who are submerged in flood waters ”.

Mr Abbasi added in his resignations that Sindhis are suffering today under these unfortunate circumstances due to sheer incompetence , mismanagement and corruption which has seeped into every government department in Sindh, particularly irrigation department revenue, health public health , local government and so on . Under these circumstances, Mr Abbasi, added that he feels himself helpless and as agitated as m y constituency for failing in helping to those who are dying of hunger and lack of basic necessities like medicines, food and shelters . He added that since he could not deliver to his people, therefore, tenders his resignation as member of Sindh assembly.
Millions of the people in Sindh are severely hit by the natural calamity that struck Sindh like some other parts of Pakistan. In other areas, the provincial governments are doing every possible effort to reach out to the flood affected people for relief, but in Sindh the provincial government is criminally ignoring the sufferings of the people trapped in flood waters since weeks.

Unfortunately, elected representatives majority hailing from Pakistan People Party (PPP) are so callous to flood affectees that they are not even distributing relief goods to those are trapped in flood waters.
In some reported cases, PPP leaders in Sindh have stored relief goods in their personal godowns rather then delivering them to flood affectees. The effectees in Sindh are not getting financial support provided by the central government to Sindh government for relief to the people in calamity hit people.
According to NEWSMAN sources, the military troops who are busy in relief operations in Sindh are raiding on the go downs of PPP elected members national and provincial assembly to recover relief goods coming for distribution among flood affectees.

The media is continuously reporting such incidents wherein relief goods stored by PPP leaders were recovered by the military troops and later distributed among flood affectees.
Sindhi political leaders have a history of cheating their people in difficult times. The people of Sindh are left to suffer in the open without any help whenever they face some natural calamity like the current floods. They had cheated their people in 2010 floods also. Since magnitude of crisis is much than that of 2010, the international donor agencies and World Health Organisation (WTO) are issuing red warning that Pakistan’s crisis if went unattended could result in killing of huge number of the people .
