ISLAMABAD, October 15,2024: Pakistan and China have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening strategic cooperation in key areas such as the economy, investment, and regional connectivity.
This agreement was reached during a meeting between Chinese Premier Li Qiang and Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari at the presidency in Islamabad.
Both leaders underscored the importance of expediting the implementation of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects.
President Zardari emphasized that the friendship with China is a vital component of Pakistan’s foreign policy.
He highlighted the need to explore new avenues for cooperation, including enhancing connectivity through all-weather roads to bolster trade and people-to-people ties.
Zardari encouraged Chinese companies to invest in the Pakistan Stock Exchange and stated that the time has come to fully capitalize on China’s economic growth through CPEC and Gwadar port.
He announced plans to visit China in November to reconnect with old friends and discuss further strengthening bilateral relations.
Additionally, he assured that necessary measures would be taken to enhance the security of Chinese nationals working in Pakistan.
The president also expressed gratitude for China’s support on the Jammu and Kashmir issue, reiterating Pakistan’s backing for China on fundamental matters such as Tibet and the South China Sea.
Premier Li, in his remarks, described Pakistan and China as “good brothers, neighbors, partners, and friends.”
He emphasized that under President Xi Jinping’s leadership, strategic cooperation between the two countries will continue to deepen.
Li highlighted the need to accelerate the progress of development projects under CPEC and reiterated China’s commitment to assist Chinese companies investing in Pakistan.
He appreciated Pakistan’s steadfast support on core issues, reaffirming that China will continue to support Pakistan’s regional integrity, sovereignty, and prosperity.
