This operation comes amid a surge in terrorist activity, particularly from the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which has been targeting security forces, law enforcement agencies, and security checkpoints across the country.
In July, the government officially designated the TTP as Fitna al Khawarij (outcasts), instructing all institutions to refer to the perpetrators of terrorist attacks as “khariji.”
Violence has escalated in recent months, especially in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), following the TTP’s decision to break a fragile ceasefire agreement with the government in 2022. The group has since vowed to intensify attacks on Pakistan’s security forces.
In the past week, security forces have carried out several successful operations.
