Lahore : Nov 9 : Taking the traders’ demand seriously, the Punjab Healthcare Department on Thursday issued an amended notification , allowing the shops and markets to remain open for business activities on Thursday and Friday in 8 smog- hotspot districts.
The districts which fall in smog -hotspot category included Narowal , Kasur, Lahore, Nankana Sahib, Sheikhupura, Gujranwala, and Hafizabad .
Earlier , the Punjab government had announced to impose smart lockdown. In 7 districts of Punjab where smog was soaring to a dangerous level. The trading community had called the decision as an entity to business activities and demanded of caretaker chief minister , Mohsin Naqvi, to reverse the decision.
Recognizing the importance of maintaining critical services, the government outlined exemptions for key personnel. Judges, lawyers, court staff, healthcare professionals, law enforcement agencies, essential service providers, WASAs, municipalities, WAPDA, NTDC, DISCOs, and SNGPL were among those exempted from the lockdown restrictions, the notification of the Punjab government concluded.
The Punjab is in the grip of smog these days. The provincial government is putting in place arrangements at different levels to protect the people from smog born diseases. As a part of its anti among policy, the Punjab government has also closed down the educational institutions.
