ISLAMABAD, November 14, 2024: Pakistan’s Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) has announced a historic collaboration with China on the upcoming Chang’E 8 lunar mission, set to launch in 2028.
This partnership represents a significant leap forward for Pakistan’s space ambitions, as SUPARCO will contribute an indigenous rover to explore the Moon’s surface.
The rover, weighing around 35 kilograms, will be part of China’s Chang’E 8 mission, which is integral to the larger International Lunar Research Station (ILRS) project.

The rover will land on the lunar south pole, a region of the Moon known for its challenging terrain and exciting potential for scientific discovery.
