Aurangzeb Meets World Bank’s Anna Bjerde to Discuss Development Priorities
WASHINGTON, October 25, 2024 — Finance Minister Mr. Muhammad Aurangzeb met with Ms. Anna Bjerde, Managing Director of Operations at the World Bank, to address Pakistan’s development priorities aligned with the Country Partnership Framework (CPF).
The Minister briefed Ms. Bjerde on the Joint Domestic Resource Mobilization Initiative (JDRMI), launched with the backing of both the World Bank and the IMF.
He expressed appreciation for the World Bank Board’s recent decision to waive commitment fees for four years on the Program-for-Results (PforR) and Investment Project Financing (IPF) instruments.
Mr. Aurangzeb welcomed the World Bank’s consideration of a grant facility for project preparation and noted the smooth progress of the IDA replenishment.
Both leaders agreed on the importance of continuing efforts to sustain the recent improvements in disbursements.
Additionally, the Finance Minister requested the organization of capacity-building workshops for implementing agencies to enhance project preparation, ultimately leading to improved implementation outcomes.
