ISLAMABAD, October 15, 2024: The capital city is under heightened security as over 12,674 personnel are deployed ahead of the 23rd Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, which began on Tuesday.
The security detail includes capital police, paramilitary forces, and Rangers, organized into three tiers of protection.
Over 12,674 personnel, including capital police, paramilitary forces, and Rangers, have been deployed in the different areas of the city. The security plan includes three tiers of protection, with 6,963 capital police personnel, 1,500 Frontier Constabulary (FC) personnel, 850 Sindh police and 361 Rangers stationed at key locations.
VIP security is also a priority, with 607 vehicles and 2,994 personnel assigned to protect VIP routes. Additionally, 444 officers are stationed at the convention center, while more than 400 personnel manage security at entry points of the red zone. Quick response teams, comprising 451 members, are prepared to handle any emergencies.
All the roads leading to the red zone have been closed to traffic.
