Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan resigns from Party Position

SIALKOT: Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan, the Central Information Secretary of the Istehkam Pakistan Party (IPP), has resigned from her position, citing personal commitments and health concerns.

In her resignation letter addressed to IPP President Abdul Aleem Khan, Dr. Awan explained that she could no longer continue in her role due to these challenges.

Despite stepping down from her official duties, she expressed her continued support for the party’s vision and mission.

The letter stated: “I am unable to continue my duties and services as Central Information Secretary of IPP due to personal commitments and health issues. Therefore, I am submitting my resignation from the post. However, I will continue to support the party as a member in the best interest of the public and the nation.”

Dr. Awan had joined IPP in June 2023, after previously being part of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). She served as the Special Assistant to former Prime Minister Imran Khan on Information and Broadcasting, and later, in November 2020, she was appointed Special Assistant to the Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar.

Following the May 9 riots, she left PTI and joined Jahangir Khan Tareen’s Istehkam Pakistan Party (IPP). Prior to her tenure in PTI, Dr. Awan was also a prominent member of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) before joining PTI in May 2017.
