Embassy of Pakistan in Riyadh observes Kashmir siege day with solidarity event

Riyadh, (Saudi Arabia) – August 5, 2025:
The Embassy of Pakistan in Riyadh organized a solemn event to observe Kashmir Siege Day (Youm-e-Istehsal), marking six years since India’s unilateral revocation of Article 370 that stripped Indian-occupied Jammu & Kashmir of its special constitutional status. The event was attended by a large number of members from the Pakistani and Kashmiri communities, as well as officials from the Embassy.

During the ceremony, messages from the President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar were read aloud, reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering support for the people of Jammu and Kashmir in their just struggle for self-determination.

Ambassador of Pakistan to Saudi Arabia, H.E. Ahmad Farooq, addressed the gathering and strongly condemned the Indian government’s actions in illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

He stated:

India has been occupying Kashmir for over eight decades. Six years ago, by revoking Article 370, it not only violated the Shimla Agreement but also disregarded United Nations Security Council resolutions, attempting to undermine the rights of the Kashmiri people. However, the brave and resilient people of Kashmir have rejected these illegal actions and continue their just struggle for freedom.”

He emphasized that the resolution of the Kashmir dispute is essential for regional peace and stability, especially in light of the ongoing human rights violations and suppression faced by Kashmiris.

Pakistan will continue to extend its political and diplomatic support to our Kashmiri brothers and sisters until their right to self-determination is realized,” the Ambassador added.

The event concluded with prayers for the martyrs of Kashmir and a renewed pledge from the Pakistani community in Saudi Arabia to stand shoulder to shoulder with their Kashmiri brethren.
