This picture was taken on February 5, 2025, at 9:00 PM, where the intelligentsia converged under the umbrella of the Dawn Media Group in the Shamadan Hall of Serena. Although the event coincided with the sad demise of Prince Karim Aga Khan, the spiritual head of the Ismaili community worldwide, who had made immense contributions towards the social and economic development of Pakistan in the fields of health, cultural conservation, and the hospitality industry, the noble purpose of this event speaks louder than words about the contributions of the Aga Khan Foundation and organizations like the Dawn Media Group towards social causes and their trickle-down effects on the underprivileged segments of society, who are most affected by climatic changes and the resultant changes in the rain pattern, ultimately leading to drought and starvation.
The International Climate Change event was formally opened by the Honourable Hameed Haroon, the former CEO of the Dawn Media Group, with a brief introduction to the purpose behind the event and a tribute to the famous sufi singer Abida Parveen from Sindh, who, despite poor health, mustered enough strength to give her spiritual blessings to this noble war against climate change and its catastrophic effects on humanity. I wish these green warriors the best of luck in their defensive war against climate change.
