Peshawar : Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) founding chairman and ex- prime minister, Imran Khan, who is in jail for May 9 cases for two years , has sought resignation from Ali Amin Gandapur and nominated little known Sohail Afridi for Khyber Pukhtunkhaw (KPK) chief minister office.
Sohail Afridi is allegedly involved in anti state postings on the social media. He is not known to even many PTI workers . He probably became Imran Khan’s first choice as his new chief minister for trolling the state institutions.
Ali Amin Gandapur had developed political differences with Aleema Khan , elder sister of Imran Khan. Aleema Khan and Ali Amin Gandapur had differences on a number of issues . Both had spats more than once in public . There is an impression that Imran Khan decided to fire Ali Amin Gandapur and nominate Sohail Afridi , less known party worker for KPK chief minister slot when the former had publicaly refused to accept Aleema Khan’s advice on many Political issues.
PTI chairman , Barrister Gohar , spoke to media on Wednesday in Islamabad on the firing of Ali Amin Gandapur as KPK chief minister . He said Ali Amin Gandapur will submit his resignation as KPK chief minister tomorrow and it will be followed by Sohail Afridi ‘s taking of vote of confidence for the office. He appreciated Gandapur ‘s services as KPk chief minister.
PTI leader , Salman Akram Raja , however gave a new twist to the issue . He told media persons that there was an impression that Gandapur had fallen close to the federal government on several issues against PTI policy . He added that Imran Khan has decided to bring the new chief minister in KPK who could ensure distance from the federal government on key issues like military operation in KPK.
Some PTI leaders believe that Ali Amin Gandapur was in the hot waters for long time and Imran Khan was looking for his replacement . Ali Amin Gandapur ‘s role as chief minister had become doubtful when he refused to run on Islamabad in the last protest call of the party .
Ali Amin Gandapur ‘s firing as KPK chief minister has strengthened the impression that Aleema Khan was the most powerful personality in the party and at some appropriate time , Imran Khan can appoint her as party chairperson.
