Imran Khan Optimistic About Trump’s Victory: PTI Leader

Imran Khan Says It Could Improve Relations with Pakistan

Islamabad, November 7, 2024: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Ali Muhammad Khan has expressed optimism about the impact of Donald Trump’s victory in the recent U.S. presidential election, stating that PTI founder Imran Khan believes Trump’s return to power could help improve relations between Pakistan and the United States.

According to Ali, Imran Khan, who is currently incarcerated, reacted positively to news of Trump’s win, recalling the strong and cooperative relationship the two leaders shared during Khan’s tenure as Pakistan’s prime minister.

Imran Khan has reportedly contrasted the previous positive engagement with Trump’s administration to what he perceives as “interference and hostility” from the current U.S. government under President Joe Biden.

Imran Khan feels that Trump’s return could ease the growing “negativity” towards Pakistan, which intensified during the Biden administration, Ali Muhammad Khan explained.

He added that PTI’s overseas chapters, which have been vocal in their support for Khan’s release, are hopeful that Trump’s presidency will reduce diplomatic tensions and create a more favorable environment for Pakistan.

Ali Muhammad Khan further noted that the PTI believes Trump’s leadership would be beneficial not only for Imran Khan but also for Pakistan’s broader political challenges.

“If leaders come to power with whom we have had good relations in the past, it will definitely help ease political hurdles for Imran Khan and for Pakistan,” he said.

The PTI’s overseas supporters, who have actively campaigned for Khan’s release, view Trump’s victory as an opportunity to shift U.S.-Pakistan relations toward greater cooperation and less hostility.

They hope that a change in the U.S. administration could help reduce the political and diplomatic obstacles Imran Khan has faced in recent years.
