ISLAMABAD, October 16, 2024: India has recognized Pakistan for its successful hosting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit.
Foreign Minister of India Subrahmanyam Jaishankar extended his congratulations during his address at the SCO meeting, emphasizing that India provided full support to ensure the presidency’s success.
Jaishankar pointed out that the summit comes at a critical time marked by complex global conditions, with ongoing conflicts significantly impacting the world.
He also highlighted the devastating effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on developing nations and the adverse economic impacts of climate change.
Addressing the challenges posed by rising debt, he underscored the difficulty of achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Additionally, Jaishankar referred to Article 1 of the SCO Charter, which stresses the importance of strengthening mutual trust and promoting friendship among member states.
He concluded by emphasizing the need for honest dialogue, stating that addressing issues of trust and cooperation is vital for moving forward.
