ISLAMABAD, October 15, 2024: Indian Minister for External Affairs Subrahmanyam Jaishankar has arrived in Pakistan to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit, marking the first visit by an Indian external affairs minister to the country in almost a decade.
As preparations unfold for the 23rd meeting of the SCO’s Council of Heads of Government (CHG), foreign dignitaries continue to arrive in the federal capital.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will preside over the high-level meeting, which will include prime ministers and senior officials from SCO member states such as Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and the First Vice President of Iran.
Islamabad has been decorated for the event, featuring colorful lights, floral decorations, and flags from member states to warmly welcome the dignitaries. A red carpet was rolled out to signify the importance of the gathering and to showcase the cordial relations between the nations.
Children dressed in traditional attire greeted the foreign guests with bouquets, adding to the festive atmosphere. Jaishankar was the last dignitary to arrive, receiving an official welcome from Pakistani officials.
