ISLAMABAD : August 25,2023: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has transferred Humayun Dilawar, an additional district and session judge of Islamabad who awarded sentence to Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) chairman , Imran Khan, in Toshakhana case early this month. He has been made an officer on special duty (OSD) with immediate effect.
IHC issued a formal notification for the transfer of judge Humayun Dilawar here on August 25. The notification does not give any specific reason for transfer of judge Humayun Dilawar . It , however , said the chief justice of IHC is pleased to transfer additional session and district judge of Islamabad and he been made OSD against thr newly created post of BPS-20.
The court of Humayun Dilawar had heard Toshakhana case against ex-prime minister , Imran Khan, and awarded him three years in prison some three weeks ago. Since giving the verdict against PTI chief early this month , judge Humayun Dilawar is facing troubles.
Soon after giving the verdict against Imran Khan he had travelled to the United Kingdom for training where he faced the wrath of PTI workers . He faced even bigger trouble when the chief justice of Pakistan , Umar Atta Bandial, declared that the decision made by him in the Toshakhana case was flawed and directed to IHC to revisit the case. The transfer of judge Humayun Dilawar soon after giving judgement against Imran Khan has exposed weaknesses in Pakistan’s judicial system.
According to some media reports , IHC ordered the transfer of Humayun Dilawar as additional district and session judge Islamabad for his safety. These reports ,if reliable , do suggest how weak the judicial system of Pakistan is and how mafias -cum political parties operate in Pakistan to harass or even target anyone including the judges if they gave any decision against goons -cum political leaders.
