DOHA, December 4, 2024: King Charles III hosted a lavish State Banquet at Buckingham Palace in honor of Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar, during his first State Visit to the United Kingdom.
The event, which garnered attention from both British and Qatari communities, marked a significant moment in the long-standing relationship between the two nations.
At the start of the banquet, King Charles greeted the Emir and his wife, Jawaher, in Arabic, with the phrase, “Your Highnesses, ASSALAMU-ALAYKUM [Peace be upon you],” a gesture that immediately won the admiration of the guests.

The King then delivered a heartfelt address, acknowledging the Emir’s strong ties to the UK, particularly his education at three prestigious British institutions: Sherborne, Harrow, and the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.
In his speech, the King expressed his and Queen Camilla’s joy in welcoming the Emir to Buckingham Palace for his first State Visit.
