Islamabad: Pakistan team announced for Nations Hockey Cup Malaysia. The Nations Cup will start in Malaysia from June 15. The Pakistani team will be led by Imad Butt. The Pakistan team will leave for Malaysia on June 8, 2025.
Pakistan’s Pool B includes New Zealand, Malaysia, Japan, while Pool A includes France, Korea, South Africa, Wales.
Pakistan Hockey Federation President Tariq Bugti, Secretary General Rana Mujahid, Head Coach Olympian Tahir Zaman made the announcement while DG Pakistan Sports Board Yasir Pirzada also watched the trials. Pakistan’s 20-member squad will be led by Imad Butt. The Pakistan team will leave for Malaysia on June 8. The national team will also play three matches before the Nations Cup.
The Pakistani squad for the Nations Cup includes Muneeb-ur-Rehman, Abdullah Ishtiaq, Muhammad Abdullah, Sufyan Khan Abdul Manan, Hammad Anjum, Arshad Liaquat, Moeen Shakeel, Zakaria Hayat, Ghazanfar Ali, Salman Razzaq, Junaid Manzoor, Hanan Shahid, Rana Waheed, Afraz Khan, Abdul Rehman, Ahmed Nadeem, Mohibullah, Rana Waleed. President Pakistan Hockey Federation Tariq Bugti said that talks are underway for hockey funds, daily allowances are being paid to national players, and they are hopeful of success in the Nations Cup.
Head coach Tahir Zaman said that access to the Pro League is necessary for the revival of the hockey team, the national team is eager to perform well. Secretary Pakistan Hockey Federation Rana Mujahid Ali said that our goal is the World Cup, for which we are trying to win the qualifying round for next year.
He said that our team is a balanced team and some junior players have also been selected for the Nations Cup in the national team.
