Rawalpindi : Sept 26,2024: As part of Pakistan’s efforts to increase defense cooperation with friendly countries, an agreement for the sale of JF-17 Block 3 fighter jets to augment Azerbaijan’s air power was recently signed.
According to the Public Relations Department of the Pakistan Army, ISPR, an agreement has been reached for the sale of JF-17 Block 3 fighter jets to increase the air power of Azerbaijan.
According to ISPR, during the recent visit of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to Pakistan, he was briefed on the combat capabilities of the JF-17 fighter jet.
At the request of Azerbaijan, Pakistan has deployed a PAF contingent to participate in ADEX-2024 in Baku, which showcased air capability and Pakistan’s proud JF-17 Thunder Block 3 display.
Air-to-air refueling of the JF-17 was carried out by a PAF multi-role tanker transport aircraft, demonstrating the long-range capability and reach of the PAF fighter aircraft.
The President of Azerbaijan witnessed the display of JF-17 and aerial demonstration of JF-17 Thunder, which demonstrated the agility of the fighter aircraft along with the professionalism of the PAF pilots.
On this occasion, the President of Azerbaijan said that Pakistan’s assistance will further strengthen the existing military cooperation, defense cooperation and fraternal relations between the two countries.
According to ISPR, the JF-17 Thunder Block-3 is a 4.5 generation multi-role fighter, equipped with AESA radar and long-range BVR missiles.
Capable of performing a wide range of combat missions, the JF-17 Thunder Block-3 provides advanced air power to strengthen Azerbaijan’s national security system.
It should be noted that at the beginning of this year, the media reported that Azerbaijan intends to purchase JF-17C aircraft, a contract worth about 1.6 billion dollars. According to the report, these modern, light and all-weather aircraft. are designed for day and night operations.
The JF-17C Block-III fighter jets developed jointly by Pakistan and China have been added to the fleet of the Azerbaijan Air Force.
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev witnessed the aircraft’s performance along with Pakistani military officials. President Ilham Aliyev sat in the plane and reviewed it.
JF-17C aircraft are jointly built by Pakistan Aeronautical Complex and China’s Chengdu Aircraft Corporation.
