While ago I received this beautiful picture of the regimental dance of an event that Maj Jamil Kiyani hosted his complete course along with their families at his resort to revive and relive the fond memories of their comradeship. Army is the only profession where the bond of the association of its personnel remain life long.
Nowshera, a colonial era garrison town in the KPK now a sprawling city, is where 14 Punjab Infantry was raised in August 1857 like the famous Guides Cavalry raised in Peshawar . It is here I came across a bright fellow who introduced himself as a course mate of Capt. Salim Fida on whose son marriage we all had converged at Nowshera..
Soldiering is one such noble profession with a singular motto of ‘do or die’, for a noble cause of serving one’s country . Neither all, who serve the country are bad except a very few, who besmirched the profession with their own personal and political ambitions, when the overall objective of soldiers and soldiering remains noble that makes its association nobler with the the profession and its bond noblest and strongest amongst those who serve together.
To be honest Pakistani, as a nation are hospitable and warm by heart and nature . Right on our very first meeting, I was invited by him to his lake side resort at Khanpur to where he belonged. I was rather impressed with his entrepreneurial spirit post – retirement for not having given up to serve something, the founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken, Colonel Hartland Sanders, an American entrepreneur did that continues to earn billion dollars worth revenue for his country post – retirement and now even his post – death, where his legacy and contribution continues to serve his country’s economic interests across the entire world.
Pakistan is currently facing enormous economic challenges where most of its citizens face extreme mental stress and in such environment it is generous friends like Honorable Jamil Kiyani who give respite not only to his friends and their families rather to other tourists by building this beautiful water resort at his native place of Khanpur Dam in District Haripur KPK at a throw away distance from the twin cities of Rawalpindi – Islamabad. .
Before closing, I must also credit Gen Tariq Khan for his contribution of building a similar water resort at Mangla and a four star well – managed hotel at Naran, indeed a great service to the country’s weak economy by these two former soldiers by taking risk to finance these startups in the tourism sector, that certainly will compensate to create jobs while the other industries continue to lay them off.
One can wish there are more investments in Pakistan by Pakistanis than their long wait for others to come invest in their country, the dream that will never come true unless we build our country with our own hands and money than run out to save our money that in reality serve others economic interests , while we foolishly remain in wait of the outside world to come to help build our shattered economy. Long Live Pakistan And Its Resilient Nation Born To Swim And Sink Together 🇵🇰
