ISLAMABAD : July 27,2023: The capital police on Thursday arrested Somabia Tahir Satti , ex-member Punjab assembly of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) from her residence here for allegedly having a role in May 9 events.
PTI leader ,according to the Islamabad police , was arrested for her role in May 9 violence.
Somabia Tahir Satti is an active political worker of PTI. The capital police while confirming the arrest of Somabia Tahir Satti said on late Thursday evening that PTI ex MPA was involved in May 9 mayhem.
PTI had indulged in violent protests across Pakistan on May ,9 against the arrested of Imran Khan. The charged protestors had ransacked many military installations in different cities , besides torching vehicles and properties of the law enforcing agencies.
Later , the government had launched a country- wide crackdown against PTI leaders and workers . So far thousands of PTI active leaders and workers have been detained and they are waiting in jail for begining of their trail.
The government is yet to decide whether trial of arrested PTI leaders and workers be done in the military or civil courts . The military leadership has time and again declared that the responsible of May 9 will not go scot free.
