LAHORE : Oct 3 : Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department of the Punjab government has dismissed 9 drug controllers in the second phase for showing slackness behaviour and overseeing unlawful promotion of Avastin injection that risked vision of thousands of the people in various areas of the province.
According to a notification issued by the Punjab government here on Tuesday , Imran Khalid , a 18 grade officer and deputy drugs controller of Wazirabad in Gujrat district has been dismissed from service with immediate effect on his poor performance .
Other deputy drugs controllers and pharmacists who have been dismissed from service on the basis of poor performance and other issues included Imran Zafar , a 17 grade officer and deputy drugs controller Bahawalpur , Ms Saira pharmacist of Allama Iqbal Memorial Trust Hospital Lahore, Zafar Iqbal , a grade 19 officer and drugs controller of district Chakwal , Sabehur Rehman Hashmi , an 18 grade officer and deputy drugs controller of Talagang of district Chakwal, Saddam Hussain , a grade 18 officer and deputy drugs controller of Pindi Ghap of district Attack , Shaikh Anwar , a grade 17 officer and pharmacist of Aziz Bharti Hospital Lahore and Hamamd Hassan , a 17 grade office and pharmacist of Tehsil Hasalpur of Bahawalpur.
A few days ago , Punjab government had dismissed from service 11 drugs controllers and deputy drugs controller for not timely taking action for illegal manufacturing and trade of Avastin injection .
Interestingly , the Punjab government has not taken any action against real culprits of the Avastin injection scam. The real culprits of Avastin injection are the management of Saira Memorial Hospital Lahore and those doctors who prescribed fake Avastin injection for treatment of diabetes patients. Other real culprits of the scam are the senior officials of Primary and Secondary Healthcare Punjab who overlooked a criminal activity for years.
chief minister Punjab , Mohsin Naqvi is being misled by Dr Javed Akram and co in Avastin injection scam to protect the real criminals of the case.
Pakistan Pharmacists and Lawyers Association , Noor Mahar , deplore the action against Pharmacists and drugs.controllers . In his statement on Tuesday, Noor Mahar said the Punjab government instead making pharmacists a scapegoats should take action the real culprits .
