Punjab Govt Extends Ban on Prisoner Meetings in Adiala

RAWALPINDI: The Punjab government has extended the ban on meetings with prisoners at Adiala Jail for an additional two days due to increased security concerns.

According to media reports, initially set to last until October 18, the restriction now affects visits to both political and non-political prisoners. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders had planned to meet their chairman, Imran Khan, at the jail today, but this extension makes it unlikely that any visits will take place.

Sources indicate that the decision to prolong the ban is driven by rising fears of potential security threats within and around the facility. Authorities have chosen to restrict access to prisoners as a precautionary measure aimed at maintaining order and preventing any incidents.

While no specific threats have been publicly disclosed, officials are reportedly maintaining a heightened state of alert within the prison. The ban will apply to all categories of prisoners.
