ISLAMABAD (Newsman): In a key development ahead of the looming Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) November 24 protest in Islamabad, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday after midday has granted the bail plea of PTI founder and former chairman Imran Khan in the Toshakhana case.
Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb of IHC accepted Imran Khan’s bail request against the surety bonds worth Rs1 million each (two), which should be deposited through separate guarantors.
Now after this bail, PTI founder is no longer considered wanted in any other case within Islamabad city legal jurisdiction after this bail development.
Meanwhile, the IHC also gave caution the former prime minister not to “misuse the concession of bail and appear before the trial Court on each and every date of hearing unless a specific exemption is granted.”
The bail can be revoked if the former chairman PTI would not cooperate with the lower court, it added.
Imran and his spouse, Bushra Bibi, were taken captive in the case on July 13, just after the family were acquitted by a district and sessions court of Islamabad in the iddat case.
Bushra Bibi was given bail and released last month from jail in the Toshakhana 2.0 case after remaining in jail for around 9 months.
Hearing Before Bail
Today (Wednesday) during the hearing, the FIA prosecutor showed his concerns over media narratives, which are saying that the approval might be given today prematurely.
Justice Aurangzeb suggested the prosecutor to not consider the media reports, stressing that the court’s order would never be influenced by any such points.
The judge said that on any claims suggested in the media, also questioning their own credibility too. He also asked regarding the valuation of a jewellery sets, as which method is used to assess their worth.
Barrister Salman Safdar, representing the PTI former chairman, replied that the prosecution was answerable for clarifying this issue in the court. He also highlighted gaps in the receipts, saying that the receipts in question were given on the name of Bushra Bibi, not the PTI former chairman.
