ISLAMABAD . August 19,2022. Pakistan on Friday remained off net due to cable cut in South and North region , bringing life to standstill and causing loss of billion in term of businesses and trade .
The Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) official confirmed that Pakistan Telecommunications Telecommunication Limited (PTCL) has reported cut in South and North cable that caused disruption in internet connectivity .
Disruption triggered downing of internet service across Pakistan in early hours on Friday that put the entire connectivity across Pakistan to zero .
From morning to around 1.30 PM , when internet came back in service , businesses and trade have gone zero and life had come to standstill as there could be no concept of life when there is no internet connectivity.
Disruption in internet service is not new to Pakistan . It happens after every couple of months and blamed is passed on disruption .
PTA never investigates any disruption in internet service . Why such thing is happening ?
There is no issuance of any investigation report of previous internet disruption .
The same exactly happened on Friday. Pakistan remained off net for more than eight hours and a country of 220 million people suffered huge financial loss and PTA fulfilled its duty by issuing a few line tweet .
Pakistan is among those countries which have a wide base for internet. Its 116 million people use internet .
Zahid Khan, a small business man in Islamabad told NEWSMAN that he was sitting ideal since his office had no internet and his entire team was waiting for resumption of internet service to start the day business.
“I think we are experiencing such disruption in internet for long but there was no serious investigation into the case”, Zahid Khan deplored.
