PESHAWAR : Serious concerns are being voiced over alleged undue interference by the Chief Minister’s Secretariat in bureaucratic matters in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), particularly in the transfers and postings of officers of all grades.According to well informed sources, this interference has raised fears of severe disruption in the province’s administrative affairs.Sources claim that continuous intervention by the Chief Minister’s Secretariat has placed many officers under intense mental stress, while several senior bureaucrats have reportedly become so frustrated with the situation that they have practically given up active engagement in administrative decision making.
Resistance within the bureaucracy is said to be growing, increasing the likelihood of a breakdown in governance at the provincial level.

According to sources, the situation within the Secretariat may further deteriorate in the coming days, with potential direct consequences for governance and the delivery of public services across the province.Meanwhile, the absence of senior bureaucrats at the inauguration ceremony of the Pakistan Citizen Portal by the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has also raised several questions within administrative circles, adding to speculation about deepening tensions between the political leadership and the bureaucracy.
In this broader context, the Provincial Management Service (PMS) Association Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has expressed serious reservations over appointments made on deputation in the province. PMS Association KP President Nauman Wazir has termed deputation-based appointments by the provincial government as illegal, contrary to the government’s own merit policy, and allegedly rooted in corruption.

The PMS Association maintains that such practices not only deprive provincial cadre officers of their legitimate rights but also weaken the overall administrative structure, describing the situation as a serious threat to the province’s governance and institutional stability.
