Rawalpindi : Nov 19: Peshawar Region won the Pakistan Cup One Day Tournament, Karachi Whites were defeated by 5 wickets in the final.
According to details, Peshawar defeated Karachi Whites by 5 wickets in the final played at Pindi Cricket Stadium on Sunday. Mohammad Imran took four wickets and Abbas Afridi took three wickets to bowl out Karachi Whites for just 103 runs. Peshawar achieved this target at the loss of five wickets.
As a result of excellent bowling by Mohammad Imran and Mohammad Abbas Afridi and all-round performance of wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Haris, the Peshawar region team became the champions of the Pakistan Cup One Day Cricket Tournament.
Peshawar won the toss and allowed Karachi Whites to bat, who were dismissed for just 103 runs in 31.2 overs. The innings of Karachi Whites could not manage at any time in front of left arm fast bowler Mohammad Imran and right arm fast bowler Abbas Afridi. Azam Khan was the top scorer by scoring 30 runs with the help of five fours. Captain Sarfraz Ahmed scored 22 runs with the help of two fours. Saeem Ayub was dismissed after scoring 11 runs.
Mohammad Imran took 4 wickets for 28 runs which is his best individual bowling performance in List A ODI. Abbas Afridi dismissed 3 players for 20 runs.
Wicketkeeper Muhammad Haris took four catches while Iftikhar Ahmed took three catches. In Peshawar Region’s innings, captain Sahibzada Farhan got out by scoring 16 runs with the help of one six and two fours. After that, Muhammad Haris played an innings of 46 runs with the help of one six and seven fours. Although the bowlers of Karachi Whites managed to take five wickets during this period, they could not prevent Peshawar from winning due to the low target.
Adil Amin remained not out by scoring 14 runs with the help of two fours. Muhammad Imran was declared the player of the final. Haseebullah was declared the best player of the tournament and he was also the best wicket keeper of the tournament. Saeem Ayub was adjudged the best batsman. Zahid Mahmood and Abbas Afridi were the best bowlers of the tournament.
