New Charges Against Imran Khan: Police Move to Secure Remand After Arrest

 

RAWALPINDI, November 21,2024: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founding Chairman and former premier Imran Khan has been arrested in connection with a new case and police are expected to present him before the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) to seek his physical remand.

The charges in this case include arson, resisting law enforcement officials, damaging property, and other related offenses registered at Rawalpindi New Town police station.

The. Anti-terrorism clauses have also been incorporated into the charges against Khan. A police spokesperson confirmed that an investigation team, led by the SSP Investigation, is questioning the PTI leader.

He will be presented before the court to request his remand.

This arrest comes just days after Imran Khan was granted bail in the Toshakhana-II case on November 20.

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) approved his bail against two surety bonds of Rs 10 lakh each, leading to his release.

On November 14, the pleas for acquittal filed by Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, in the Toshakhana-II case were rejected by Special Central Judge Shah Rukh Arjumand.

In a separate development, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) challenged Bushra Bibi’s bail in the Supreme Court.

The FIA argued that the bail, granted in the Islamabad High Court judge’s chamber, violated Supreme Court guidelines and claimed Bushra Bibi was involved in the case alongside her husband.

Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi were previously arrested on July 13 in a new National Accountability Bureau (NAB) reference related to the Toshakhana case, just hours after their acquittal in the Iddat case.

This arrest followed the Islamabad District and Sessions Court’s acceptance of their appeals against a conviction in the Iddat case.
