IMF for Additional Tax Measures After Missing Targets

Finance Minister meets the mission chief, FBR chairman briefing IMF on Taxes

The Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Rashid Langrial and his team will brief the International Monetar Fund (IMF) on FBR’s transformation plan, Retailers Scheme and Track and Trace System today. 

ISLAMABAD (Newsman):- The Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Rashid Langrial and his team will brief the International Monetar Fund (IMF) on FBR’s transformation plan, Retailers Scheme and Track and Trace System today.

The parleys between Pakistan and IMF delegation would be continued until Friday Nov 15.

The talks between both parties on second day (tuesday) were started early morning when the visiting delegation reached Finance Ministry for holding introductory meeting with the Finance Minister Muhammd Aurangzeb.

The both parties discussed the country’s progress on the $7 billion loan program during the first three months of the current fiscal year.

The Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and his team welcome the IMF delegation led by mission chief Nathan Porter.

The Minister of State for Finance Ali Pervaiz Malik, the State Bank governor, and the chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) were also present there.

The introductory session was lasted for around an hour. Both parties discussed progress made so far in the implementation of Pakistan’s $7 billion loan program.

The Finance Minister briefed the visiting delegation on counry’s achievements which also almost aligned with the targets for the first quarter of the current fiscal year.

He made commitments to fully implementing the Fund’s program. He also made promise to continue reforms aimed at fostering economic stability.

Sources said that there will be another round between FBR and the mission today. The IMF team would be told regarding the plan to get the annual target of Rs12,970 billion.

The FBR would likely to brief the team about the end to end digitalization program of the entire supply chain of different businesses.

The IMF would be apprised by the BR on the plan to expand the scope of the digital monitoring system to more sectors, the sources further said.

The FBR will also brief the visiting team regarding the track and track system which would also be implemented in petroleum, beverages, pharmaceuticals and steel sectors.

The visiting team will be apprised on the strategy to control the sale of counterfeit and smuggled cigarettes.
